Flying Buttresses
Thought I'd add a comment so this doesn't look so old. :)
I think form is great if it's underneath, like a foundation -- hidden until you dig for it -- you know what I mean. I'm not a big fan of forms that are visible, like flying buttresses on a cathedral. They may be pretty, but their job is to prop up a form that doesn't stand on its own.

So true, and yet the same could be said of fiction, art, raising children, etc. And yet we continue to all these things because we can't seem to stop.
